Why visit The Alexandra Event 2017?
A trail of gadget caches that will blow your mind, including a very special one built by 2016 Victorian Cache of the Year Winner, Paul the Ball.
Loads of 4WD or high clearance 2WD options from Lake Eildon & Surrounds across to the Cathedral Ranges, Black Range and the Blue Range areas plus many more.
Power trails and GeoArt:
There is a Power Trail of 300+ caches at Mt Disappointment, less than an hour’s drive from AX2017 GZ. A brand new trout-shaped piece of geoart has been released to coincide with the Mega, so it’s time to don your puzzle-solving hat and get solving all the fabulous puzzles.
We have chosen some of Australia’s most prolific LAB Cache finders to create 10 of the best possible lab caches to keep you entertained over the Mega weekend.
As well as awesome gadgets, Lab caches and power trails, it is only a short drive to Melbourne’s first cache (GC7A) which is the oldest surviving Traditional cache in Australia!
There will be 3 or 4 fantastic Night caches of varying Lengths and difficulties.
In addition to finding geocaches, you will also be able to participate in some of the fun games we will be holding over the weekend. There are some great prizes to be won along the way.
Learning some Stuff:
Over the weekend, we will have several learning sessions on various topics. These will include Newbies Q&A sessions, How to Earthcache, and How to play a Wherigo cache, as well as puzzle solving, Meet the Reviewer and of course, Pathtag & Trackable trading.
Saturday night festivities will kick off from 5pm, with a free BBQ for all attendees, thanks to Anvil Angus. Meat, bread and sauce will be provided, anything else you require will be BYO.
Saturday Night Presentations:
The Ceremony will commence at 6pm, including an Oxfam Trailwalker announcement, the inaugural Australian Geocaching Hall of Fame recipients, and Lucky Draw prize giveaways, including three $100 Fuel Vouchers.
Geocoins and Travel Bugs:
While you are of course welcome to bring along your own trackables or ones you have collected, there will also be some ultra-rare ones that you may discover over the weekend. Anyone who drives a JEEP and would like their car photographed with the 4 Jeep TB’s please contact Clever Monkey.
10 types in a day, maybe even 12.
Sunday has a range of events to assist any geocacher who may wish to attempt 10 or more types in a day. It’s an early start up to the webcam at Mt Buller, before finishing up at the new virtual in Melbourne.
Geo Vehicle Show & Shine 2017:
Unlike previous years when this event was run in July, this year it will be run alongside the Mega in Alexandra. If you want to take part in the competition side of this one, get in quick as places are limited.
It’s on! After organising the best Geocaching big event in Victoria which has ever been held, the Geocachers of Victoria invite you to the next mmmmm … massive event of 2017.

The Alexandra Event 2017 GC6GFDX
The Alexandra Event 2017 is being run at the gates to Lake Eildon and the High Country. We got a fun-filled agenda of activities both on site and in the local area for you. However the most important things it’s free!
Yep. Like 2015 and 2016 we won’t charge a penny for the general attendance of the event. This will be totally worth your time and you don’t have to take our word for it: join the Geocaching Melbourne facebook group and ask if the previous event was worth visiting – we dare you!
This will be awesome 🙂 Again!
